update horse quilt

Here is a quick update on the horse quilt.

It has been ironed to the background fabric and batting and backing added.  I have started quilting it but it has had to go on the backburner as we have two of the kids birthdays coming up, and my husbands birthday and we are moving house.

Plenty of things to keep me busy...Thankfully I will get my own sewing room in the new house so no more sewing in the living room. Yeah!

Till next time

Day 2 Quilting

I had another day of working on my quilt today...two days in a row is something that rarely happens. Did make some progress on my quilt today but it still doesn't look like much.

working with a limited palette should have made it easier (or so I thought) but it has really been a lot harder than first thought. I seem to have been pulling more pieces off than on today and the red just seems to jump off the page.

Here's hoping that once the centre pieces are done that it will actually look like something. Hmmm I need to think about this one for a while. No time for quilting tomorrow.....I guess my family will want some food in the cupboards!

big red red blobs?

Today I spent the day working on my new quilt. Ahhh it was lovely quilting again. I havent had much time for that lately. Here is a photo of my progress so far........

Can you guess what it's supposed to be? Hmmm. Maybe it really does look like a bunch of red blobs ( like my daughter thinks)

Lunch in Chinatown

This last week my mum-in law and I went out for a traditional chinese lunch with the ladies (and Terence) from "Granny Quilts". We were treated to lots of different kinds yummy food and my first time eating Peking Duck. Delicious!! The ladies have been working so hard and it was lovely being able to share this meal with them and try some local food as well.

Today I got a copy of the article about "Granny Quilts" in the "Voices" magazine. This is a local magazine put out by the Central Districts Council Development Board which our co-operative is part of. Its great publicity for these ladies and a real encouragement for them.

I have started a new quilt this week. It is based on a photo that I took of the Marina Bay Bridge in Singapore. I have been playing with this photo in Photoshop and even managed to print it out to a workable size. This quilt will be a bit different to other quilts that I have done so we will see how it works out! Watch this space!

My "tree" quilt will be winging it's way to NZ later in the year as it will be going to my Mum and Dad.

Well thats all for now...Happy quilting!
